THE WORD AROUND BETHANY
April 23, 2013 Edition
LOOK WHAT GOD DID!
All I can say is, “Praise The Lord!” As I wrote to you the past two months, we were in the midst of a faith venture with God. We were praying and believing that He would help us raise the funds needed to completely renovate the worship center with new carpet and a complete painting makeover. And not only that, we had put a time out there of having it all completed by Easter Sunday. Knowing where we were with our donations at the time and the brevity of the weeks left, God would have to work a miracle among us to make it happen. Well halleluiah, HE DID IT! And that is just part of the faith story. While we were working together to accomplish this goal, God was at work in a band of brothers and sisters to make our former Youth Building into a more usable, multi-space Bethany Chapel. Working together for what seemed, I’m sure at times, all day and all night, these faithful ones began turning the former church building into a beautiful space that will host all ages and many different ministries at some point in the future. Once they started working, donations of all sorts starting coming in. Everything from paint and painters to cabinets and refrigerators and floor buffers and carpet layers and woodworkers and lighting fixtures and the blessing of a donation that took care of the window repairs that were needed came pouring in from good hearted believers. They put their faith and skills to the test and God also allowed us the grace to finish the Bethany Chapel to the point of being able to use it on Easter Sunday! Let me share something with you that will astound you: Everything done to date in the Bethany Chapel has been accomplished without using any of the Bethany Beautification Funds! Talk about a resurrection! God is at work renovating and resurrecting this church of mission minded believers called Bethany Baptist Church who has been serving this community in Snellville, Georgia for 165 years! We love to brag on the fact that it is God who is at work to achieve His purpose among us. We are so thankful to Him for His faithfulness! To God Alone Be The Glory! I am thankful to you for your giving during this adventure. Raising over $32,000 over and above our regular tithes and offerings during a very tough economic time in our nation speaks volumes of your love and is a testimony of your faith in God. I promise that we will use every penny that we have raised to beautify our church in some form or fashion in the future. There are still needs to completely finish the Bethany Chapel and we can begin to use some of these funds to complete the renovation there. If you would like to give toward that project, the fund is still receiving gifts. Well done, Bethany! Well done! Blessings, Pastor Jim
YOUTH GROUP NEWS
WHAT AN AMAZING SUNDAY! THANK YOU to all who came by and said how much they enjoyed the Youth Movement skit on the 21st! It’s such a blessing to know that God was honored! Our students prayed and asked God to move hearts and make people stop and think about just who Jesus is to them. And based on what we saw, God heard and answered BIG TIME! Thanks also to Pastor Jim for allowing us the time to put that on…..and you can look forward to more in the near future!
Our students want to also say a HUGE THANK YOU to all those who donated toward sending them to Youth Camp! God blessed in that area as well in a major way, and as each day passes, we get more excited to see what He will teach us during camp week!! If you’d like to be a part of the Bethany Youth Movement, we’d love to have you! We’re still looking for two full time teachers for our Middle School class, as well as those who would be willing to step in and substitute. Call me at

FROM OUR MINISTER OR EDUCATION
It's Spring time and things are starting to sprout up all over the place, including Bethany Baptist Church. I am proud to share with you some of the ways that God is using the people of our church to work in His Kingdom.
Just a few weeks ago, we had our first Men's breakfast and it was truly a blessing. We had over 15 men show up to spend time in fellowship and preparation of starting a ministry that can help men become the leaders of
both their homes and the church, the way God intended them to be. If you were unable to attend that meeting, it is not too late. Our next scheduled meeting will be May 11 at 7:30 a.m. for a continental breakfast and then we will go out and clean up the cemetery, so it will look good for Mother's day. We held our first Bible Drill and everyone got a chance to see how well the children did and how hard they had worked. It is an honor to announce
that Denise Rutledge has taken over as the new teacher of the Toddler's class. It is up to you to tell everyone you know, so she will have plenty of kids to teach the love of Jesus too. Now last, but not least, starting May 1, a group of ladies will be starting our Mission Friends ministry for our younger children ages 3 to 10 years old. If you have any questions about how to get involved in any of these ministries, you can contact my wife ,Judi Kirkland, or contact me. May God Bless You, Rick Kirkland
